Mainz - "Next Steps" Handpan Workshop Modul "Harmonie" (2 Tage)
Neutorstr. 10
55116 Mainz
The Leander Greitemann Masterclass is aimed at everyone who has already taken the first steps on the handpan and would like further inspiration.
- Do you sometimes sit at your instrument and can't think of anything new?
- Have you lost your initial enthusiasm and have been playing less or not at all lately?
- You know a few beat patterns and maybe a whole song, but it's not that easy for you to create something new?
- Do you want to get (even more) into free improvisation that creates real songs?
- You are inspired by my game and want to know my secret 😉?
- Do you want to get more out of your head and more into your feelings when you play?
- You want to get endless new starting points for new songs, compositions and improvisation?
If you answer “yes” to just one question, then you’ve come to the right place (and if not, then ask me your questions and we’ll see if they can be answered in the master class).
The master class consists of three main courses. They are the basic building blocks of all music: rhythm – harmony – melody. You can either book them all one after the other or just choose a topic that particularly interests you. The three courses are logically structured one after the other. However, you don't necessarily need the previous courses to get along with a single topic. We will offer several rounds. You can also complete the three parts in a different order.
Harmony. Understand the basics of harmony/music theory and apply them to the handpan.
For the first six months I played the handpan completely freely, without relying on a note or chords and harmonies (harmony = well-sounding harmony of several tones or chords) in a structured manner. During handpan coaching I was given the hint to understand chords and harmonies as the backbone of my playing. This completely changed my approach to the instrument, what can I say: revolutionized! Since then, I have been playing every day with great enthusiasm and emotion, with the knowledge of chords and harmonic connections in the back of my mind. I have now helped many people completely revolutionize their game with this knowledge. In some cases I was able to change people's games more in one hour than they had experienced in entire weeks of workshops. This knowledge is valuable for everyone, but especially when playing with others and if you own or would like to own a handpan in the future that has more than eight tone fields up to extended scales with 14 or more notes. The content is applicable regardless of the scale you play (Kurd, Celtic/Amara, Pygmy, Sabye…).
We will cover the following topics (and more):< /p>
- What are sounds anyway? Which ones are there and why do I have specific ones on my handpan?
- Only necessary basics of music theory: what is a chord, how is it structured. What does Kurd, Celtic, Pygmy and co. actually mean?
- What is the difference between major and minor?
- How can I revolutionize my playing by thinking and feeling in chords and harmonies?
- How do I find beautiful chord sequences on my handpan?
- How can I see my handpan not just as a drum, but as a harmonic instrument with which I can conjure up touching harmonies?
- How can I compose or improvise a coherent song using chords, with different elements and dynamics that build on each other (and don't seem glued to each other)?
- Different strumming patterns based on harmonies
